OLC Parish Library Mission Statement

To provide our parish family with materials that are consistent with the Catechism of the Catholic Church that will help to expand our knowledge and deepen our faith in Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church.

This website will give you the ability (from our parish library computer or your own computer) to see which Catholic books, VHS tapes, CDs and DVDs we have in our parish library.

By clicking "Book Selector" above on the menu bar, you can access our book and VHS/CD/DVD list. The indexes are sorted by using the first letter of the title. You are also able to search using key words by clicking "Search the Books" above on the menu bar.

After making your selections, just write down the titles and bring them into the parish library. The parish librarians will help you locate them on our shelves and will check them out for you.

Our Lady of Consolation Parish Librarians

The question of "Why is it important to you to volunteer your time in the OLC Parish Library?" was posed to each of the parish librarians.

Jan Kleefisch

Like Amy, I was also raised a Catholic and was blessed with 12 years of a wonderful Catholic education. Unfortunately, through the years I became busy with a family and career and neglected to continue to grow in my faith. I also found myself confronted with serious questions from others, both family and friends, regarding the dogmas of our faith and I found myself lacking in the knowledge necessary to explain or defend the Church's position. I realized that I needed to strengthen my knowledge and so when I retired from teaching one of my goals was to invigorate my faith through study and reading. Being involved in the rebirth of the parish library has been a blessing for me. What a wealth of information and inspiration I have found! I had no idea what treasure this small library contains. As the old saying goes I have received more than I have given, and know I will continue to. I cannot wait to be a part of the reopening of the library and hopefully the community experience of learning and sharing that it will bring.

Delores Quinn

My name is Delores Quinn and I am one of the original members of OLC parish. When we were growing up, our mother instilled in us a love of good books and the joy of reading them. I can remember when there was no such thing as a parish library here at OLC. The only available access to Catholic-oriented books was to search through our school library or purchase them at a Catholic bookstore. How blessed we are at this time to have a parish library that is growing larger in size each year. As parishioners, we can now easily search for a great variety of Catholic material in person at our own library, or on the internet via our own website.Any of us can do so at no cost! Hope to see you at the library soon and often.

Carl and I like to work in a service ministry that keeps us involved with our OLC parish family. We also have felt the need for further information and education in our Catholic faith. So when Amy asked us to help out in the parish library, we felt it would be a good opportunity to fulfill both desires. We hope to share our faith, to grow and learn and help others to do the same.

Julie McAuliffe

My husband and I moved to Cedar Springs and became members of OLC in November of 2006. Not knowing anyone in the congregation, I felt a need to get involved in the parish community and the parish library seemed like a good place to start. Now that I have had the opportunity to work in the library for awhile, I have come to see how lucky the members of OLC are to have such a wonderful resource to learn more about the Church and their faith. I hope that all parish members, both young and old, will take advantage of what the library has to offer. I know I will.

Thank You to All Who Helped With Our Parish Library Automation Project!

The OLC Parish Library Automation Project was a long and arduous task set before us (we believe, by the Holy Spirit). We'd like to thank the OLC parish community for financing this project; without your financial support, this project would not have become a reality.

There was a core of people who worked diligently for about ten months on the project, and there were others who, when asked to help us with certain aspects of the project, gladly pitched in and did their part. We'd like to recognize everyone who volunteered their time and talent and helped us bring the OLC parish library to the next level for the educational benefit of all of our parishioners:
